Buona Pasqua a tutti!
Easter does not arrive on the table of Italians if "la Colomba" (dove) is missing. The Easter cake takes its name from its shape of a dove, which in the Christian tradition is a symbol of peace and love, alongside the egg that represents the Resurrection. You are all familiar with the Christmas cake: "Il panettone".
Do you know what is the difference between Panettone and Colomba?
Il Panettone and la Colomba are nearly identical, with two slight differences: il panettone contains raisins and mixed candied fruit, la colomba only candied orange peel; il panettone is dome-shaped and doesn't have the same sugary almond topping as la colomba which is also in a beautiful dove shape.
